Giants hoping Terrell Thomas’ ACL isn’t torn

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, New York Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas is scheduled to meet with Dr. James Andrews in Florida to get a second opinion on his knee.  The Giants are holding out hope that he didn’t suffer a torn ACL.

“Giants CB Terrell Thomas is scheduled to meet Tuesday in Pensacola, Florida with Dr. James Andrews. But doctors who have examined Thomas so far do not believe he has a torn ACL and they are optimistic he will play again this season,” reported Schefter.

If Thomas didn’t re-tear his ACL, it will be interesting to found out what  it wrong with his knee.

Phil Simms believes Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin are already Hall of Famers

CBS Sports analyst Phil Simms says that he believes current New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is already headed to the Hall of Fame.

“Here we were five years ago, before the Giants won their first Super Bowl, and all the talk that year was maybe the Giants need to bring another quarterback in and Tom Coughlin’s in trouble,” Simms told USA TODAY Sports.

“Now they both absolutely one day will go in the Hall of Fame.

“Eli has been a real clutch quarterback. When you talk about why, never underestimate who he plays for and how he’s been groomed.”

I agree that Manning has always been clutch, but I need to see him play the way he did last season, for at least another three to four years before I can say he deserves to be headed to the Hall of Fame.

The one thing that will certainly solidify Eli’s spot in Canton, is another Super Bowl ring, and that’s something that’s definitely possible.

Tom Coughlin says the NFL lacks common sense with Sash suspension

On Wednesday, New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin expressed his displeasure with the NFL suspending safety Tyler Sash for using prescription Adderall, even though it’s on the NFL’s list of banned performance enhancing drug’s.

“This kid really had no intention of doing anything that was illegal. I know what the definition of the rule is, and I understand all about that; I’ve been there myself . . . but you have to ask yourself, sometimes common sense needs to be involved,” Coughlin said.

“I feel bad for the kid,” Coughlin said. “He is a heart-and-soul football player; he takes everything that he has and puts it into the game. He loves to play. We used him in a very, very important role last year as a rookie, fullback on the punt team. So there’s no issue with this young man. He doesn’t need any watchdog over him. Ignorance is no excuse of the law, I understand; but he knows what is expected and he does it.”

I can’t argue with Coughlin’s point of view, even though I believe Sash should have had his doctor contact the NFL or consult when them before taking Adderall.

A few months back, Giants running back Andre Brown was also suspended for the first four games of the regular season for taking Adderall.  He appealed his suspension and proved to the NFL that he had a prescription.  They ended up dropping his suspension.

Justin Tuck tells Jerry Jones: “Talk is cheap, play the game”

New York Giants defenseive end Justin Tuck had a few simple words in response to Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for telling his fans that they’re going to kick the Giants as*** this season.

Tuck told the media on Wednesday, “talk is cheap, play the game”

The Giants and Tuck have been playing according to those words for the past few seasons and because of it they’ve been able to come away with two Super Bowl wins.  Maybe Jones needs to do less talking and make better personnel moves.

Eli Manning: The Giants aren’t a dynasty

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning was a guest on NFL AM on the NFL Network on Wednesday morning and was asked if the Giants are now a dynasty.

Manning responded by saying the Giants have plenty of things of improve.

“All we can worry about is getting better. We can’t worry about other teams or where the media is,” said Manning.

Manning agreed that it’s “kinda nice to win a championship and go under the radar.”

I wouldn’t expect any other answer from Manning.  But he does have a point, even though the Giants have won two Super Bowls in five years, they still have a lot to improve.

Terrell Thomas re-injures his ACL

According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas suffered another ACL injury.

“Terrell re-injured his ACL. At this point he will most likely undergo an arthroscopic procedure to determine the extent of the injury to the ACL. However, no decision has been made at this point. Terrell is going to consult with Dr. (Arthur) Ting, who performed an allograft reconstruction of the ACL in Septemeber,” said Giants trainer Ronnie Barnes, per the Daily News.

This would be Thomas’ his third ACL tear.  He suffered one at USC and one last season.  This season would be the third.  It’s almost impossible for a player to come back from a third ACL injury.  His career could be over.

Terrell Thomas heads to the hospital after his knee swells up

New York Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas is coming back from tearing his ACL roughly a year ago.  He was forced to leave practice early on Monday and head down to Manhattan to have his knee looked at after it began to swell up.

According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, the extent of Thomas’ injury isn’t know, but head coach Tom Coughlin seemed concerned.

“The extent of the injury is not yet known, but Tom Coughlin definitely sounded worried,” wrote Vacchiano.  ”When he was asked if there was any news on Thomas he began “Unfortunately there is …” He said Thomas, who apparently got tangled up with WR Domenik Hixon at practice on Sunday, showed up on Monday morning with swelling in his knee.

“The Giants are expecting to announce more on his condition this afternoon.”

As we sit and wait to hear the extent of Thomas’ injury, all we can do is hope it’s not his ACL again.

Reese hints at Cruz getting a new deal this season

New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese hasn’t ruled out the possibility of extending wide receiver Victor Cruz’s contract this season.

“It could happen. All those options are open,” Reese said on Saturday per Jorge Castillo of The Star-Ledger. “I just think Victor is focused on being a good football player again. The contract situation will take care of itself.”

I believe there’s a good chance the Giants will extend Cruz’s contract this season.  I think they want to see how well he plays during the first few weeks of the season before they reward him with a lucrative long-term deal.

Hakeem Nicks on track for mid-August return

New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks says that he’s still on schedule to return by mid-August as he continues to rehab from a broken foot.

“Definitely,” Nicks said. “No setbacks. Everything’s going the way we planned. I’m just sticking to the things that the doctors and trainers told us to do.”

Nicks even says he’s been able to run on his foot.

“There’s no pain, no pain right now,” Nicks said. “Ran on it before. The next morning, it responded very well. There’s no pain. It’s a matter of being smart about it.”

Giants’ Tyler Sash sleeps with Tinker Bell blanket

Thanks to BlackSportsOnline.com, we got wind of a very funny picture of New York Giants safety Tyler Sash sleeping with a Tinker Bell blanket while at training camp up in Albany, New York.

It looks like Giants linebacker Mark Herzlich was the one that exposed Sash on Twitter.  The picture that he posted also has linebacker Spencer Paysinger sleeping with a Mario Brothers blanket.

So @tsash and @spittyp are settling in well to their new dorm instagr.am/p/NhmJC0jav2/

— Mark Herzlich (@MarkHerzlich) July 26, 2012

I know Sash has a girlfriend.  Maybe she let him sleep with her blanket while he’s away at camp.
