Giants season opener moved to Wednesday night

According to NFLcommunications.com, commissioner Roger Goodell has announced that the NFL kickoff game will be played on Wednesday, September 5 (NBC, 8:30 PM ET).

The season opener was moved from Thursday to Wednesday to avoid a conflict with President Barack Obama’s Thursday night speech at the Democratic National Convention.

The New York Giants will be hosting the season opener at MetLife Stadium. Their opponent is still undetermined.
